Why we created the Pokémon VIP Pass
We created the Pokémon VIP Pass at Geek-aboo to thank the regulars who support our shop and help make our Pokémon community welcoming. It gives approved members priority queue access for Pokémon releases.
When stock is limited, we want the people who enjoy collecting and playing to have a better chance of picking up cards. The VIP Pass gives us a way to recognise the customers who support their local shop throughout the year and make busy release days easier to manage.
We want Geek-aboo to be a place where you can meet other Pokémon fans, open packs together, trade cards and enjoy a game.
Meet-ups such as PokéMeet give people an opportunity to get to know one another and share the hobby. New players, collectors and families are welcome, and you can find upcoming event details on our website and Discord.
Our VIP Pass recognises the regulars who support the shop and help build that community. VIP applications are currently closed, but new players are still welcome at our community events. Attending an event does not automatically grant VIP membership.
The VIP Pass must not be used to buy limited releases for a quick resale at inflated prices. Sharing passes or using other people to get around purchase limits also undermines the purpose of the scheme.
Our Resident Geeks will check passes and enforce the limits announced for each release. Where we confirm that someone is exploiting the system, we will revoke their VIP Pass and remove access to VIP queue priority and any VIP pre-order opportunities. Purchases that breach the announced limits will be refused.
Trading cards is a welcome part of the hobby. An ordinary trade or selling a duplicate is not, by itself, evidence of scalping. If you have concerns about misuse, please raise them privately with a Resident Geek so we can review the circumstances before taking action.
The application form is now closed, and we are not taking on any new VIP members at the moment.
VIP membership is for regular supporters of our store. Anyone considered for membership needs to be vetted by a Resident Geek and a regular who supports the shop.
Approved members can collect their cards at Geek-aboo, 74 Queen Street, Glasgow.
Speak to a Resident Geek when you arrive. They'll check your registration and allocated card number before handing over your card. If you've already submitted the form and are unsure about your approval or collection, ask the team to check.
Once you've collected your card, read the rules printed on it and take a clear photo as a backup.
Please check the latest release announcement on Discord before travelling. Follow the arrangements and any purchase limits announced for that release.
1. Queue outside the store. Follow the Resident Geeks' directions about where to stand.
2. Wait for the team to call you forward. Please follow their instructions when entering the shop and approaching the counter.
3. Have your VIP Pass ready if you're using VIP access. Staff will check your card or backup photo and direct you to the appropriate place.
4. Follow the purchase limits for that release. Any limits apply to VIP members too.
5. Respect the queue and the people around you. If there's a problem, speak to a Resident Geek so the team can help.
VIP access does not guarantee a purchase. Stock may sell out, and a card does not reserve a product or confirm a pre-order. Customers without a VIP Pass should check the release announcement for the arrangements that apply to them.
· Your card is personal and non-transferable. It is linked to your registration. Please don't lend, sell or pass it to someone else to use.
· One VIP queue place per card number, per release. Your physical card and any photo of it count as the same card. They cannot be used to obtain multiple VIP places.
· Purchase limits must be respected. Using someone else's card or additional entries to get around the announced limits is misuse of the system.
· Treat staff and other customers with respect. Follow the queue directions given by our Resident Geeks and raise any concerns with the team.
· VIP access will be withdrawn where misuse is confirmed. Please follow the rules printed on your card and the instructions for each release.
Keep a clear photo of your card, including its number, somewhere you can find easily on your phone. Please keep the image private.
If your card is lost or damaged, speak to a Resident Geek. A photo can help us find your registration, but the team still needs to verify your details and advise you about a replacement.
Meet the community at PokéMeet
PokéMeet is a relaxed get-together at Geek-aboo where you can meet other Pokémon fans, open packs together, trade cards and enjoy some casual games. Bring your trade binder or deck and join in—new players, collectors and families are all welcome.
It’s an opportunity to get to know the people who make our local Pokémon community so welcoming. Keep an eye on our website and Discord for upcoming dates and booking details.
Keep an eye on our Discord announcements for release information and stock updates. Approved members can speak to the Resident Geeks about access to the Pokémon VIP channel. Our general Pokémon channel remains a place for the wider community to chat.
Where an exclusive pre-order opportunity is offered, follow the instructions for that offer. Holding a VIP Pass does not mean an order has been placed for you. Wait for confirmation of your actual order.
Supplier delays can affect what arrives for launch, so check our latest update before making a special trip.
For help with your VIP Pass, speak to a Resident Geek in store or on Discord.
